Teenager falls off bus; mother demands answers

MIAMI (WSVN) -- A mother is demanding answers after her 13-year-old daughter fell out of a school bus.
"The only thing I remember is people were throwing raisins at him and he just stopped the bus," said Jackisha Bayard.
Bayard said, last Wednesday, she and her classmates from Allapattah Middle School got on the school bus for a routine trip. However, she said, her classmates became too rowdy, so the bus driver took them back to school. While on the return trip, witnesses said, a handful of students began jumping off the bus through the back emergency exit. That's when the driver told Bayard to close the door, she said. "He said, 'Can somebody close the door for me?' We were at the light, so I just got up, and I was about to close it, but then he just started driving off," said Bayard.
That is when Bayard fell out of the bus. Her mother and their lawyer said she was unconscious in the middle of the street. They said a Good Samaritan, who saw the teenager on the ground, stopped to help her. "She was on the ground, unconscious, and I held her hand and told her everything will be OK," said Siobhan Oxley. "I know he saw the little girl on the ground. He could've stopped."
Oxley's son also witnessed the incident. "The bus kept going, so my mom stopped and helped the girl while everybody was telling her to get up," said Deandre James.
Miami-Dade Schools Police said they are still actively investigating the incident. Meanwhile, Bayard's mom and attorney are taking legal action against those, they said, are responsible for her injuries to her body and her brain. "The neurologist just told me that she has bleeding in the brain, she has trouble hearing in one ear, she gets headaches from the back of her head and she has blurry vision in her right eye," said Milneuve Jean, the teen's mother.
The family's attorney is shocked by the incident. "He asks for help, someone opened the door and then he accelerates the bus and knocked her off," said Barry Snyder.
The bus driver was not available for comment.
